Ok, last one for the day, I promise. I tend to develop things and create content in spurts. Maybe it was too much coffee? Who knows. But, here's the deal. A lot of you came here when we started the New Booster Survival Guide. But, today, I decided to go a little deeper.
You see, we train student leaders all the time. Drum majors, captain camps, this camp that camp... But, we forget the backbone of our organizations... You. The parents. No one trains you for what you are doing to support these groups.
Sure, there is leadership training out there, but it is generic and mostly corporate. The arts are different. So, like the student leadership lab, I have outlined curriculum and a plan for a booster leadership lab. Yes, video modules like most expect, but in this lab, we will have synchronous learning as well. Let classes, Q&A,β¦

Hey guys, I told you I would use this channel to announce the release of new resources. Yesterday, we released the second part of our new booster survival kit. This piece is on financial control. One of the most nerve wracking parts of what we do. Today, I will be tackling bylaws⦠what they mean, how they work, what to do with them.
Some of this seems basic, but you would be amazed at the size of the knowledge gaps out there!
What is something you wish YOU knew before starting this journey?
Also, one more thing. We have started the production of the SoundstageEDU Student Leadership Lab. We will be offering a subscription service to incoming student leaders or current leaders that need a level up. Stay tuned!

Iβm Jodi. Forever Band Geek from a non competitive marching band, but highly structured concert band background. My eldest (now a freshman in college) joined her competitive marching band in 2019, and man was I shocked at all of that! I have 2 boys currently involved in band (HS freshman and 7th grade). Iβve been an active volunteer since 2019, have been on the Booster Board and have also been the uniform mom since shadowing the previous one in 2021. My husband, a non-band kid way out of his comfort zone, but also an engineer and department head, took on the role of President this year as our previous one quit after 3 weeks. Itβs been a wild ride these last 6.5 years, and we have at least 3 more in our future. We are in Kentucky.

I wanted to welcome all the new members to the group and I wanted to say hello to those of you who have been here since the beginning! I know I have been quiet here, and that is because I just figured out how to use this part of the community! So, consider this the first official message to our own private community. Many of you recently joined because a new resource just launched. There will be more things like that coming as time goes on, but I will use this channel to update you as they release. Thanks for being here!
